Unexpected

​Not unexpected,
how could you not know?
Constellation of factors,
conspiring to ignite.
Like heat, air and fuel,
conflagration of fire.
Inequality, injustice,
lock downs, jobs gone.
Racial unfairness, income divide,
leaderless governance,
fanning the flames.
Partisan perspective,
unbelievable shame.
I guess we deserve this,
the veil removed.
Can’t cover what matters,
smoke and mirrors for too long.
We need someone to bridge,
gaping chasm in here.
Unified purpose,
the founders understood.
Though they left out many,
based on color of skin.
Foundation of country,
original sin.
Correct the mistakes,
mend fences and hearts.
Strive all for wholeness,
we need a new start.
Character matters,
don’t forget that next time.
Be wise in your choices, 
everything is not fine.
