It was a day unforgettable
The kind that comes once in a lifetime or two The sea was calm, the sky was blue Humpbacks were breaching Dolphins were leaping Seals on their backs Minnow schools flashing Paddle boarders relaxing Sun slowly setting out to the west Birds swooping down trying their best To catch fish without fumbling Charter boat engine gave a low rumbling The air was filled with surreal vibrations A day like no other, sense of soul liberation You couldn’t help but notice the unusual circumstance Serendipity one might say, or rarest episode of chance We were gathered together to pay tribute to our mother Children and grandchildren, carrying out her final wishes To bring remains back home to the beach and the sea A symbol of where she wanted to be In body and person, in spirit and substance In purpose and values, with yearning and striving To stay alive in our memories, to carry on trying To live the way she would want us to live With love in our hearts and wisdom to give The captain was speechless He hadn’t seen quite a day “It’s not usually like this” he stumbled to say “You are very lucky, I feel something special" "She must be here with you in some form or fashion” We all understood deeply without any reaction I’ll always remember that sense of connection With nature and family, earth, sea, sky and creatures Knowing that higher source created these features Unmistakable and powerful, perhaps you can know In these instances of life try to not let them go Although they will fade and normal days with return Always remember that feeling, for that sense you will yearn Again it will come in another form If you open yourself to the infinite ways It can strike you and touch you, allow the spirit to flow Into your being, keep it with you and know There is higher power, all things are connected Find this truth for yourself, you will always feel protected To live life to the fullest Pursue your potential Give back to others, do something substantial In small ways or big ways, it doesn’t matter that much As long as you help, other hearts will you touch Comments are closed.
