Kindred Spirit

​I encountered a kindred
But they turned away
There was more to do
Much more to say
Overstepped the bounds
Gave the wrong impression
Intending no more than friendship
I had to learn a lesson
Keep fair limits intact
New acquaintance defensive
Not ready to be open
Over sharing offensive
An opportunity lost
New friendship derailed
No sense in clinging
That ship has now sailed
A shame nonetheless
Many similar thoughts
Someone who understands
Perspective not taught
Watch work from afar
Appreciate common views
No craving or longing
Insight deeper than news
Strong sense of knowing
At the first meeting
Perhaps higher connection
Presence, maybe just fleeting
Yet words are familiar
Seems on similar journey
Realization manifested in time
Synchronous ideas and shared yearnings
I hope I can be of service
Not sure they felt the same
If true it would be mutual
