​It is common among sages
To point out the illusion
This reality we know
Created by ego driven confusion
Obscuring real truth
There is more than this
Another realm of real beauty
Existence of it we miss
In our self driven creations
Fixated on the past
Looking forward to something better
Not realizing it won’t last
Often ignoring this very moment
In it peace is contained
Accepting all we have now
Working hard without strain
Our needs can be met
Superficial ones can be left
Let go past disappointments
Future ambition often bereft
When not powered by meaning
Real purpose is lost
Self interest will not satisfy
There is always a cost
For ignoring the connection
Human spirit and higher source
Find the compass within you
Let it direct your true course
Stop always looking for something better
Never satisfied at this time
Spark some joy and excitement
Realize that life can be divine
Here and now is the real time
Where you are is the place
Make the most of any situation
Express your love and your grace
Let go of silly anger
Move beyond fear and dread
Let peace be your anchor
And compassion rule your head
Take comfort in the knowing
This life is not all there is
The other shore still awaits us
You can have it now while you live
Build trust among your brothers
Sisters and friends
Forgive their missteps and harshness
For your own make real amends
This is a road less traveled
