The Wave

​We see the wave coming
not sure yet how big  
major concern and disruption 
unprepared as we dig 
out of our hole of complacent disregard
what can we do now 
stay in and stay safe 
reducing direct contact 
at this time is the charge 
we need some direction 
we need reassurance 
we need real action
capacity for treatment 
to avoid our destruction 
now is not the time 
to point fingers and lay blame 
but real preparation 
next time will keep us more sane 
learn of the lessons 
don’t make the same mistakes 
resource for our safety 
caution cannot be faked 
listen to experts 
respect real knowledge 
hard work is still fruitful 
more than parties in college 
there is more than gut feeling 
by the seat of your pants 
study and reason 
more valuable than random chance 
we need appreciation 
for those in the know 
intelligence and wisdom 
improved lives can they sow 
not just anger and lashing 
disruptive destruction 
tearing down things built with meaning 
in the name of self interest and corruption 
please pay some attention 
use your mind for the good 
be an agent for advancement
